What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies — local storage, session storage, pixels and software development kits — work in comparable ways: they read or write information on your device. This policy covers all of them.
Why BuildCalcWorks uses them
We use a small number of strictly necessary technologies to make the site work and to remember your privacy choice. If you allow analytics, we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used; it loads only after that permission is given. With your permission we may later also use advertising technologies to help fund the free calculators. Our calculators run entirely in your browser and work whether or not you allow optional categories.

Covers essential site functionality, storing your consent preference, security and basic session state where required. These technologies do not track you across other websites.
Analytics
Helps us understand how visitors use BuildCalcWorks so we can improve the site.
No analytics service is active on BuildCalcWorks today. If one is added later, it will only load after you allow this category.
Advertising
Used to display and measure advertising. Depending on your choices, ads may be personalized or non-personalized.
No advertising scripts or advertising cookies are active today; ad areas on calculator pages are placeholders. When advertising is enabled, personalized advertising in the EEA, UK and Switzerland will be handled through a Google-certified consent management platform.
Functional
Enables optional features and preferences that are not required for the core website to work.
Reserved for optional conveniences such as remembering non-essential preferences or loading optional embedded content. Calculators work fully with this category turned off.

How consent works
On your first visit you can accept all optional categories, reject the optional ones, or choose individual categories. Optional categories stay off until you turn them on: doing nothing, closing the notice, scrolling or continuing to browse never counts as consent. Strictly necessary technologies may operate without consent where the law permits.
If advertising is introduced, personalized advertising for visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland will be handled through a Google-certified consent management platform integrated with the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework. This preference panel is our own and is not a certified platform.
How to change or withdraw your preferences
Open at any time — it is also in the footer of every page. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent, and you never need to contact us to do it. You can also delete site data through your browser settings.
How long preferences are kept
Your choice is stored in your own browser under buildcalcworks_consent for up to 180 days, together with the date and the policy version it was given under. We do not store your IP address or any other identifying data to record consent. If we materially change our purposes, vendors or categories, the version changes and we ask again.
