BuildCalcWorks provides free online calculators and informational tools for construction, home improvement, landscaping and related project planning. Depending on which tools are published at any given time, these cover things like concrete volumes, fence materials, gravel quantities, material weights, bag counts and cost estimates based on figures you enter. Categories shown as coming soon are not available yet.

The legal details of the operator of BuildCalcWorks.com are being published alongside these Terms. In the meantime you can reach us through the contact details on our About page.

By using BuildCalcWorks calculators or other website functionality, you agree to comply with these Terms. If you do not agree with them, you can simply stop using the site.

There is no account to create and nothing to sign. These Terms set out sensible ground rules for a free public website; they are not a commercial contract for services.

BuildCalcWorks is intended for general informational and project-planning use, by homeowners, DIY users, students, tradespeople and businesses alike. We do not set an age requirement for reading the site or using a calculator, and the site is not directed at children. If account-based or paid features are introduced later and bring requirements of their own, this section will be updated.

Our calculators help you estimate material quantities, dimensions, volumes, weights, costs and project requirements from the information you enter. They are built for preliminary planning, budgeting, comparing options and estimating materials.

They are not a substitute for:

• engineering or architectural services
• building plans and drawings
• advice from your contractor or trade professional
• manufacturer instructions and product data
• local building codes, permits and inspections

Every result depends on what goes into it: the measurements you enter, the units you choose, the waste allowance you set, the densities and material assumptions in use, product yields, any prices you type, and the formula behind the tool. Change any of those and the result changes.

Actual project requirements often differ, because of things like:

• measurement errors or rounding
• site and ground conditions, and uneven excavation
• compaction, settlement and moisture
• product variation and manufacturer-specific yields
• cutting waste and local construction methods
• how a supplier measures and delivers what you order

Calculator results should be treated as planning estimates rather than guaranteed quantities.

Verify before ordering materials

Please check quantities independently before ordering large amounts of material, signing contracts, hiring contractors, making substantial purchases or starting construction. Compare the estimate against your project drawings, supplier information, product data sheets, manufacturer instructions and any professional guidance you have. A quick second look is usually enough.

No guarantee of project outcome

We cannot guarantee that a calculation will match site conditions exactly, that a supplier will deliver precisely the stated volume, that contractor prices will match an estimate, that quantities will be exact, or that a project will satisfy applicable codes. Those things depend on your project, your suppliers and your local rules.

BuildCalcWorks does not provide structural engineering, architectural, legal, electrical engineering, surveying or geotechnical advice, and it does not certify code compliance.

A calculator result does not establish that a project is safe, structurally adequate, code compliant, permitted or suitable for a particular site. This matters especially for anything involving foundations, footings, piers, decks, roofing, electrical systems, HVAC or structural materials, where the correct dimensions, depths, spacings and specifications come from your design, your engineer or your local building authority — not from a quantity estimate. When you use the calculators, you are the one who knows your project. Please take care to:

• enter accurate measurements and choose the right units
• verify project requirements against your drawings or specifications
• check manufacturer and supplier information for the products you are buying
• understand the regulations that apply where you are building, and obtain any permits required
• follow the safety requirements for the work involved
• get qualified professional advice where the work calls for it

For our part, we aim to keep the calculators correct, clearly explained and honest about their assumptions, and to fix problems when we learn about them.

Several calculators let you enter material prices, labour rates, delivery charges, tax rates and other expenses. Those figures come from you, and we cannot verify or guarantee them. A cost result is arithmetic on your own numbers.

Where we show reference price ranges to help you start, they are general references only: they change over time, vary by location and supplier, and are not live contractor quotes. For a real budget, use quotes and prices from your own suppliers.

Calculators may use reference values such as concrete density, gravel density, material coverage, bag yield and default waste allowances. These values are planning references, and they vary between products, manufacturers, suppliers, material grades and moisture levels.

Where a calculator lets you change an assumption — and most of ours do — use the figure your own supplier or the product data sheet gives you. That will always be more accurate than a general reference.

You may use BuildCalcWorks for normal personal, educational and commercial project-planning purposes: a homeowner planning a patio, a DIY user pricing a fence, a contractor estimating quantities, a tradesperson checking materials, or a student learning how the calculations work. Business use of the public calculators is fine, and results you generate from your own measurements are yours to use.

Calculators cannot currently be embedded on other websites. If embedding, a public API or similar integrations are offered later, they will come with their own separate terms.

Please do not:

• intentionally disrupt or damage the website or its infrastructure
• attempt unauthorised access, or bypass security controls
• introduce malicious code
• overload the site, or scrape it in a way that materially harms its operation for others
• impersonate BuildCalcWorks or suggest an association that does not exist
• use the site for unlawful activity
• copy the site or its calculator collection wholesale and present it as your own service
• remove or obscure proprietary notices where they apply

Ordinary use is welcome and expressly not restricted: search engine crawling, linking to our pages, normal browsing, and assistive or accessibility tools.

Automated access is not banned as such. It must simply not materially disrupt the service, circumvent technical controls, create an unreasonable load on the site, or misuse interfaces that are not publicly offered.

We expect AI assistants and agents to read these pages on people's behalf, and we do not prohibit that. If we publish a public API or agent interface later, it will have its own terms and reasonable usage limits.

Subject to applicable law, BuildCalcWorks owns or licenses the site design, branding, written content, the calculator interfaces, the original software behind them, and our graphics and logos.

We do not claim ownership of mathematical facts, standard formulas, unit conversions, public-domain information, third-party trademarks, or data owned by manufacturers and other third parties. That distinction matters to us: the mathematics belongs to everyone.

The BuildCalcWorks name, logo and branding should not be used in a misleading way, or in a way that suggests endorsement or partnership, without our permission. We make no claim about registered trademark status.

Most of our calculators apply standard geometry, standard measurement conversions and widely used material-estimating practice. Nobody owns those, and we do not assert exclusive rights over a formula or a fact.

What may be protected is our particular implementation: the software, the interface, our original written explanations and the way we organise and present reference data.

We may link to manufacturers, retailers, suppliers, affiliate partners and other external resources. Those sites are operated independently, with their own terms and privacy practices, and they control their own content, products, availability and prices. We cannot guarantee the accuracy or availability of anything on them.

Product sections may in future contain affiliate links, and BuildCalcWorks may earn a commission on qualifying purchases made through them. This normally does not change the price you pay, unless stated otherwise.

Affiliate relationships never change a calculator formula, an assumption or a result. Product suggestions are kept editorially separate from the calculations, are labelled where they appear, and availability and pricing remain in the hands of the merchant.

BuildCalcWorks may display third-party advertising, including services such as Google AdSense, once enabled, to help keep access to the calculators free. Advertising is not running yet: the ad areas you may see on calculator pages are placeholders.

Advertising does not alter calculator formulas or results. Privacy and tracking related to advertising are governed by our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, and you can change your choices at any time:

We aim to keep BuildCalcWorks available and working, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance, technical problems, hosting outages, updates and security incidents can all interrupt the service, and the site is provided as it is, without an uptime guarantee.

We may improve calculators, correct errors, update assumptions and reference data, add features, and retire tools that are outdated or misleading. Tools still in development are marked as such and may change significantly before release.

These Terms cover the free public tools. If paid features are ever offered, what you are entitled to under them will be governed by their own terms, not by this section.

Despite careful work and testing, a formula, explanation, reference value or other piece of content may occasionally be wrong. If something looks off, please tell us — a short note about which calculator and which numbers is enough. We investigate reports and correct genuine errors, though we cannot promise that every issue will be fixed immediately.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, BuildCalcWorks is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses resulting solely from reliance on planning estimates provided by this website. That includes, for example, buying too much or too little material, project delays, or a difference between an estimated and an actual cost.

This limitation does not apply to intentional misconduct or to gross negligence where the law does not allow it to be excluded, and it does not apply to personal injury or death where applicable law prohibits exclusion.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any rights or liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

Where permitted by applicable law, if you deliberately misuse the site — unlawful use, deliberate infringement of someone's rights, or malicious activity against the service — you are responsible for the losses and claims that conduct causes us.

This does not apply to ordinary, good-faith use of the calculators, which is what the site is for.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to limit mandatory consumer rights that apply under the laws of your country.

If you are a consumer in the EEA, the UK or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protection, those rights apply in addition to these Terms, and where a term here conflicts with them, the law wins. We are not asking you to waive any statutory right.

The standard BuildCalcWorks calculators are provided free of charge. We intend to support the site through advertising and, potentially, affiliate commissions rather than charging for the core tools.

We cannot promise that every future feature will always be free. If paid features are introduced, pricing, renewals, cancellation, refunds, billing and the relevant consumer rights will be set out in additional terms presented before you pay for anything. No paid service exists today, and nothing on the site charges you.

BuildCalcWorks does not currently require an account to use its standard public calculators, and there is nothing to register, log into or cancel. There is also no facility to upload or publish content.

Your project information stays yours. Entering measurements into a calculator does not transfer any ownership of your project data to us. Calculations run in your browser and the values you type are not sent to or stored by BuildCalcWorks, as described in our Privacy Policy. If you share a result link, the values appear in the link you share, so check it before sending it on.

These Terms are governed by the law of the country in which the operator of BuildCalcWorks is established. That country is being published together with the operator's legal details, and this section will name it once confirmed.

Mandatory consumer protections in your own country of residence remain unaffected where they apply. We do not ask you to give up rights or remedies available to you under mandatory local consumer law.

If something goes wrong, please contact us first. Most issues — a calculator that looks wrong, a question about content, a privacy request — are resolved quickly and informally, and we would rather fix a problem than argue about it.

If a matter cannot be resolved that way, you may bring it before the courts that are competent for you, and you may be able to use a consumer dispute-resolution or complaints scheme available where you live. We do not require private arbitration, we do not choose the tribunal for you, and we do not ask you to litigate in a distant jurisdiction.

The specific consumer complaints body for the operator's jurisdiction will be named here once it has been confirmed; we would rather name none than name the wrong one. Privacy complaints are covered separately in our Privacy Policy.

We may revise these Terms when the service changes, when features are added, when legal or security requirements change, or when the way the site is operated changes. Material changes update the Last Updated date at the top of this page; routine deployments do not.

Changes apply going forward, not retroactively to use that has already happened. If accounts or paid services are introduced, significant changes affecting them will be notified separately, as the law requires.

If a provision of these Terms turns out to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply so far as that is legally appropriate. An invalid provision is simply not applied; it is not silently rewritten into something else.

If we do not enforce a provision immediately, that does not necessarily mean we give up the ability to enforce it later.

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Disclaimer, govern normal use of the public BuildCalcWorks service. Future paid or account-based features may add their own terms.
